Butler Photo was born many years ago, but was officially founded as a business in 2016. Our passion is to raise awareness about threatened and endangered wildlife and plants through visual storytelling. We are dedicated to making your conservation research come alive so it can reach a wider audience and make an even stronger impact.
As principal owner, I have made this business my life-work, along with my volunteer responsibilities at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, the Philadelphia Zoo, and as a pet therapy team with my border collie Finnley. I have a B.S. in biology and chemistry, as well as an MBA, and worked in the pharmaceutical industry for close to twenty years. Not only do I understand science, but I also possess a strong set of transferable skills around being organized, keeping communication open, working as a team, being sensitive to cultural differences, solving problems creatively and (perhaps most important) being flexible.
I recently received my Master of Fine Arts at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and worked tirelessly on a thesis project that aimed to raise awareness about migrating birds and why nesting grounds and stop-over points are vital to their survival. The drastic change in lifestyle from corporate to academic life allowed me to explore the less tangible qualities of life such as how experiences can change what we see, how challenges and disruptions can help us find our way, and how much of an impact one person can actually make in the world.
